What is Vikingball?
Vikingball is a fast-paced 6v6 adult team sport built around passing, movement, positioning, defense, and controlled physical play.
Two teams compete across a divided field, advancing the ball through designated zones while trying to knock the opposing team's target ball off its stand.
Players can join individually and will be assigned to a team. No prior Vikingball experience is required.
The Basics
6v6 Team Play
Each team plays with six players on the field, including one goalie. If registration numbers require it, Season 1 may be adjusted to a 5v5 format.
Pass, Move & Defend
Players pass and advance the ball through the field's zones. The ball must be released within the allowed time, and a ball touching the ground results in a turnover.
Knock Down the Target
Teams score by knocking the basketball off the opposing team's cone. Goalies protect the goal area, while defenders use positioning and controlled contact to stop scoring opportunities.
Built for Modern Competition
Vikingball is a newly organized recreational sport designed to combine passing, strategy, athletic movement, teamwork, and controlled physical competition. The league uses a structured rulebook, organized teams, referees, standings, playoffs, and dedicated goalies to create a complete seasonal experience.
It may feel familiar to players from sports such as handball, lacrosse, basketball, soccer, or rugby, but Vikingball uses its own field, scoring system, zones, and rules.
Season 1 Format
- • Adults 18 and older may register individually.
- • Players are assigned to one of the Vikingball League teams.
- • The planned format is 6v6, including goalies.
- • Practices and regular-season games are followed by playoffs.
- • Standings determine playoff seeding.
- • Games consist of two 15-minute halves.
- • Registration includes an official team jersey.
- • If registration numbers are lower than planned, the league may adjust roster sizes, team count, or move games to 5v5.
- • If there are not enough total registrations to operate a viable season, affected registration fees will be refunded.
