Possession automatically changes. Where play resumes depends on where the ball went out: Offensive zone: offensive team must retreat to the neutral zone or their own defensive zone. Defending team gains possession and resumes play from the ref's spot. Your own zone: the other team gets the ball at midfield and you must stay in your zone. Neutral zone: the other team gets the ball at the spot and you must retreat to your zone. Behind the goal: offense starts behind the goal, defense stays neutral or on their side.

Can I play goalie and be a shooter as well?

Yes. During registration, you can select Player + Goalie as your role. This gives you a player jersey and a goalie jersey so you can switch positions while keeping every team uniform and consistent. The additional $40 covers the cost of the second jersey. Priority note: Players who register as Goalie only receive priority for the starting goalie position. Players who register as Player + Goalie may be asked to play in the field depending on team needs and roster balance.

How do I join the league?

Players must register individually through the Vikingball website. After you complete the registration questionnaire, waiver, and payment, a staff member will review your answers and place you on a team. At this time, full team registration is not available. Once you sign up, you can sign in and access your account right away — no confirmation email required.

Vikingball is an outdoor league, so games and practices may be delayed, shortened, postponed, or canceled due to unsafe weather, poor field conditions, field closures, or safety concerns. Play will stop immediately if thunder is heard or lightning is seen. Activity may only resume after 30 minutes have passed without any additional thunder or lightning. Light rain does not automatically cancel Vikingball, but games or practices may be stopped if the field becomes unsafe, slippery, muddy, flooded, or dangerous to play on. If a game is canceled or postponed, the league will make a reasonable effort to reschedule it. If needed, makeup games may be played during scheduled practice times. Games will take priority over practices when makeup time is limited.
